1.Best-selling author Everett Lynn Harris’ humanized black gay culture to those that needed the insight through his fictional stories. His most recent novel, “Basketball Jones” gives an inside glimpse in to the lives of gay men who are forced to condemn society’s demand for what public figures’ life is supposed to be.
2. Harris’ career of top-selling books almost never happened. The 54-year old had a regular 9-to-5 selling brand computers. In 1994, he published ‘Invisible Life,’ his first novel. In the story, Raymond Tyler falls in love with a married man, but also maintains a relationship with a woman he can’t live without.
3. Washington Post, Sports Illustrated and Ebony have all featured Harris a contributor in its publications.
4. Harris taught writing classes at the University of Arkansas. It was reported he got his information for his straight-romance novel “Just Too Good To Be True.”
5. In 2001 he appeared as narrator on Broadway for the musical “Dreamgirls.”
